About   Me

hi, i'm amanda!

I grew up in Adrian, Michigan and went to college at Eastern Michigan University.  I met my husband, Jake, when we were both working at the rec center on campus.  I was the aloof lifeguard and he was my cocky supervisor.  When we finally stopped acting too cool to talk to each other, we hit it off.  I mean, the guy proposed to me in a bookstore.  What an absolute gem.

I double majored in French and language, literature, and writing for secondary education and following graduation, I taught for three years in an Ann Arbor high school.  Working with teenagers was a challenge but they are so clever, hilarious, and truly kind.  I miss so many of my former students!

Our plan was always for me to be a stay-at-home-mom so when we had our first son, Noah, I was ready to hang up my chalk and come home.  Almost four years later, we now have a second son, Maxwell, and spend a lot of time discussing "'struction beticles" (construction vehicles).
So. Much. Time.

When Max was born, we hired a photographer to take pictures of the four of us.  The photos were gorgeous and I treasure them.  I so appreciate having the beauty of that time captured since I was in such a daze learning how to live with two children that I wouldn't have remembered the details that made it so sweet.  During the photoshoot, I chatted with the photographer and we had so much in common!  Since then, we have become great friends and she has been incredibly generous in teaching me photography.  I am so grateful for you, Rachel!

Now I am thrilled to be able to offer my own photography services to those looking to capture their own special memories.  I have found so much joy in this art form and look forward to each new session I book with excitement!  Contact me and let's get planning a session that fits your vision so you can have those memories forever.

I'm a stay at home mom and i'm like *really* into it. i love learning about child development and parenting styles. i am so grateful to have this time with my boys.

I'm an avid reader. i often have one non-fiction book, one fiction book, and one audiobook going.

i have done two six-week study abroad sessions in france. the first time i lived with a host family in brest, bretagne and the second time i had a student apartment in paris. the best part was being able to walk outside any day and find endless opportunities to lose myself in the culture.

i am a new tinkergarten leader! i have a few classes each week at a local park.  i love being able to facilitate a fun hour for the children (including my own!) and it forces me to get outside when my natural inclination is to stay inside.

trying to think of five "fun facts" about myself has made me deeply regret the times i asked my students to do the same to introduce themselves on the first day of school. if you're reading this, former students, i'm sorry. you were right. this is difficult.
